Your heart is a strong organ. You sleep but your heart never sleeps. It always beats in the same rhythm and pace. But there are some health conditions which may alter the working of your heart like high cholesterol levels, diabetes and obesity. It is important that you rightly realise these causes and take appropriate care to protect this hard-working organ for a better and a longer life.

Heart disease is one of the most common diseases, and it takes a toll on human health. But if you are diagnosed of a heart disease does not mean that your world has come to an end. In today’s scientifically advanced world, there are numerous therapies to manage a diseased heart.

Heart attack is also one of the major causes of deaths in women, after breast cancer. It has been estimated that almost one in three women will ultimately die of stroke or cardiac disease. Over weight women with high cholesterol levels are sure to get a heart attack if not given appropriate health care. The onset of menopause in women increases the risks of heart diseases, and equals that to the similar risks posed to men.

Heart is one of the critical organs in the body and it is important for us to take good care of it to prevent it from any possible impairments. Cardiovascular diseases can be very serious and can cause major health problems, which also includes death from a heart attack. Prevention of cardiovascular diseases is possible, and it is not that difficult to attain. It is mainly a matter making the right lifestyle choices. 

Hence, World Heart Day – a day to create public awareness of the risk factors for cardiovascular diseases and to promote preventive measures – is celebrated every year on the last Sunday of September.
